Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has been encouraged to adopt an American twang when he moves to the United States to play for Los Angeles Galaxy.
The 34-year-old will end his 25-year association with Liverpool in the summer after agreeing an 18-month-old deal with the MLS side.
However, branding experts are concerned that Gerrard's strong Scouse accent will not be understood by the American public.
"One can almost imagine it being like when European players play for English clubs and learn the language," the Daily Star quotes Marcel Knobil as saying.
"We know it's a really tough test to break the American market, it's important to be able to get a message across and Gerrard might really struggle to do it."
Gerrard will team up with Robbie Keane, who was recently named MVP, at LA Galaxy.
