Jamie Carragher, Dietmar Hamann in Twitter spat over Loris Karius criticism

Former Liverpool players Jamie Carragher and Dietmar Hamann get into a Twitter spat over the recent criticism of goalkeeper Loris Karius.

Former Liverpool teammates Jamie Carragher and Dietmar Hamann have had a spat on Twitter in relation to the media treatment of goalkeeper Loris Karius.

In his role as a Sky Sports pundit, Carragher has not minced his words when asked to give his view on Karius, who has conceded six goals in his last two Premier League games.

Karius hit out at the media, in particular Carragher's Sky colleague Gary Neville, for criticising his performance in the Reds' 4-3 defeat to Bournemouth a fortnight ago.

On Sunday, the German shot-stopper was at fault again as Liverpool were restricted to a 2-2 draw by West Ham United at Anfield.

In the studio, Carragher advised Karius to do his talking on the pitch rather than in interviews, and it appears as though Hamann disagrees.

In response to a fan, the former midfielder tweeted: "You can criticise as much as you want but you don't tell an adult to shut up. Poor form."

After Carragher noticed that his ex-teammate was referring to his comments, he then tweeted: "Shut up."

The retired defender went on to bring up an incident in 2005 when Hamann spent some time in a jail cell in Japan.

The feud did not last long, though, as Carragher confirmed on the social media website that the pair had made up.
