Robbie Rogers's boyfriend becomes father

The boyfriend of Los Angeles Galaxy winger Robbie Rogers has become a father for the first time.

Rogers - one of football's few openly gay players - has been dating TV producer Greg Berlanti on and off for the last three years and is now expected to help raise the child, who was born by surrogate.

The 28-year-old confirmed the new arrival in a post on his Instagram account:

Welcoming Caleb Gene Berlanti into this world with love and peace. 2/18/2016 the most handsome pure little guy I've set my eyes on. ❤️
