Terry to pay for funeral of young fan

Chelsea captain John Terry has offered to pay for the funeral of eight-year-old fan Tommi Miller, who died on March 31 following a battle with leukaemia.

Terry has informed Tommi's family that he will cover the £1,600 cost of the service after learning of the youngster's passing on social media.

The former England international told Cambridge News: "Having had the pleasure of meeting Tommi at a Chelsea game I was totally devastated to hear of him passing away. I'm sure his family and friends will give him the send-off he deserves."

Tommi's mother Ruth told the newspaper that she was "overwhelmed" by the generosity of Terry, who was one of her son's favourite footballers.

The eight-year-old passed away after an attempt to perform a bone marrow transplant was unsuccessful.
