Prosecutor 'wants six-month jail term for new Chelsea boss Antonio Conte'

A prosecutor in Cremona has reportedly asked a judge to hand new Chelsea manager Antonio Conte a six-month suspended jail sentence for his involvement in alleged match-fixing.

The 46-year-old, who yesterday was confirmed as Chelsea's new manager, is accused of failing to report fixing in a Serie B match between Albinoleffe and his former club Siena in 2011.

Conte, who will take charge at Stamford Bridge in the summer when his contract as Italy boss expires at the end of Euro 2016, denies the charge.

According to Football Italia, prosecutor Roberto di Martino has called for Conte to be given the suspended sentence as well as a €8,000 (£6,414) fine. Conte's trial has been fast-tracked, meaning that the defendant could have a sentence reduced by one third if convicted.
