Cherries chairman recovering after heart surgery

Bournemouth have confirmed that chairman Jeff Mostyn is recovering at home after undergoing a "minor" heart operation.

The 71-year-old had been admitted to hospital earlier this month after falling ill at a Premier League meeting in Harrogate.

A statement on the official Cherries site read: "[Mostyn] has undergone a minor heart procedure, which was a success, and is currently recovering at home, surrounded by his family.

"Jeff would like to thank the Premier League and everyone at AFC Bournemouth for their support, assistance and best wishes over the past couple of weeks, as well as thanking the staff at the Acute Medical Unit at Harrogate District Hospital and the James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough.

"He is now looking forward to getting back to Vitality Stadium during the 2017-18 season and the club would ask that Jeff and his family's privacy is respected at this time."

Mostyn was appointed Bournemouth chairman for a second time in September 2013 by Russian owner Max Demin, having previously held the role in 2007.
