Bayern Munich midfielder Xabi Alonso rejects tax fraud claims

Bayern Munich midfielder Xabi Alonso has denied accusations that he committed tax fraud in Spain during his time at Real Madrid.

Prosecutor Jose Javier Polo has approached a judge asking to investigate the Spain international as he claims that there is evidence to suggest that the footballer defrauded the tax authorities between 2009 and 2011.

In response to the allegations, a lengthy statement was released on Alonso's Facebook page, which signed off with: "The player reiterates with absolute clarity that has always fulfilled and continues to meet with each and every one of their tax obligations.

"In the same way has shown and continues to express total willingness to justice in the firm belief that its actions have been adjusted and always meet the applicable laws."
