Bayern Munich team meet Pope Francis in Vatican City

The Bayern Munich team and manager Pep Guardiola meet Pope Francis in Vatican City following their 7-1 thumping of Roma in the Champions League.

The Bayern Munich players and manager Pep Guardiola ended their Champions League trip to Rome with a visit to Pope Francis in Vatican City.

Despite the German champions grabbing a 7-1 rout over Roma in their group match on Tuesday night, the Pope was happy to meet the team the following day.

Pope Francis, who said during the meeting that Bayern played a "wonderful game" against Roma, was handed a signed shirt from the Bundesliga champions.

The Argentine religious figure is a boyhood San Lorenzo supporter.
