Rory McIlroy survives playoff to reach WGC-Dell Match Play last 16

Defending champion Rory McIlroy ousts Kevin Na at the second extra hole to book his place in the last 16 of the World Golf Championship-Dell Match Play in Texas.

Defending champion Rory McIlroy won at the second extra hole in his winner-takes-all group match against Kevin Na to advance to the last 16 of the World Golf Championship-Dell Match Play in Texas.

The world number three, who has never successfully defended a tournament as a professional, will be up against Open champion Zach Johnson in the first knockout round later today at Austin Country Club.

The two men above McIlroy in the world rankings, Jordan Spieth and Jason Day, also booked their places in the knockouts by finishing with perfect 3-0 records in the group stage.

Spieth will take on South Africa's Louis Oosthuizen in the round of 16, while Day, who won last week's Arnold Palmer Invitational, faces American Brandt Snedeker.
