Brendon de Jonge holds first-day lead

Zimbabwe's Brendon de Jonge fired a round of six-under to take the lead on day one of the Deutsche Bank Championship.

The 35-year-old hit seven birdies, including two back-to-back on the 15th and 16th holes, but his lead could have been greater if not for a bogey on the third, which left him with a card of 65.

England's Luke Donald and Ian Poulter are among nine players in tied-second on four-under, along with the United States' Rickie Fowler. PGA Championship winner Jason Day is also well positioned following his three-under round of 68 at TPC Boston.

Rory McIlroy is five shots off the pace after he recorded a round of 70, which included three bogeys, while Jordan Spieth had a round to forget as he finished four-over for the day.
