Anthony Wall defeats Alex Noren to claim Paul Lawrie Match Play title

Anthony Wall defeats Alex Noren to secure victory in the Paul Lawrie Match Play final.

Anthony Wall has edged out Alex Noren to emerge as the winner of the Aberdeen Asset Management Paul Lawrie Match Play title.

The Englishman took the lead in the final for the first time on the 11th after losing the opening two holes to the Swede at Archerfield Links.

Both golfers bogeyed on the ninth and parred on the 10th before the match swung in Wall's favour, with a five-footer from his opponent rebounding off the cup while the 41-year-old holed his chance.

Wall then matched the Swede shot for shot to claim a 1up victory on the final green and pick up his second European Tour title in his 489th start.

Elsewhere, James Morrison came away with a 4&3 victory over fellow Englishman Oliver Fisher in the third-place playoff.
