Jhonattan Vegas seals Canadian Open title by one shot

Jhonattan Vegas seals his second PGA Tour title by winning the Canadian Open on Sunday.

Jhonattan Vegas earned his second PGA Tour title by winning the Canadian Open by one shot on Sunday.

The 31-year-old Venezuelan had to wait to see if his opponents could match his eight-under-par 64 round after he birdied the final three holes, but nobody could.

Jon Rahm came closest as he had an unblemished round with five birdies, but his 67 left him 11-under for the tournament, one shot behind.

Brandt Snedeker began the final round as leader, with Vegas five shots adrift of him, while US Open champion Dustin Johnson was just off the shoulder of his fellow American.

After 18 holes, Snedeker finished tied fifth in the field following a one-under 71 round, while Johnson ended one shot behind Vegas, despite shooting an eagle on the 16th hole.
