Justin Rose triumphs in Hong Kong Open

Justin Rose holds his nerve on a dramatic final day to beat Lucas Bjerregaard to the Hong Kong Open title.

Justin Rose has claimed the Hong Kong Open title by one shot after a dramatic final day ended with him edging out Lucas Bjerregaard.

Starting the final day with a share of the lead alongside Bjerregaard, Rose triumphed in a dramatic finale in Fanling to win his first tournament since his success in the Zurich Classic of New Orleans in April.

Battling each other throughout the final round, it appeared that Bjerregaard was on course to win the tournament after finding the hole with a birdie from 30 feet on the 13th hole.

However, the Dane followed the putt with a double bogey on the next hole to open the door to Rose, whose birdie on the 16th handed him a two-shot lead as he finished with a round of 68 to claim the win as Bjerregaard's own birdie on the final hole proved to be in a losing cause.

Matthew Fitzpatrick, Patrick Reed, Soomin Lee and Jason Scrivener were five shots back in a tie for third, while former US PGA champion YE Yang was among the players to finish on 10-under.
