Jason Day secures wire-to-wire Arnold Palmer Invitational victory

Jason Day holds off the challenge of Kevin Chappell to secure a wire-to-wire victory in the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Jason Day has secured a wire-to-wire victory at the Arnold Palmer Invitational with a final round of two-under par leaving him on 17-under for the tournament at Bay Hill.

Day matched his score from Saturday to clinch the win, beating Kevin Chappell by one stroke after the American posted a final-day 69.

Troy Merritt and Henrik Stenson were two shots further back on 14-under for the tournament, while Zach Johnson hit 68 on the final day to climb up to fifth place.

England's Paul Casey finished tied for ninth place on 10-under alongside compatriot Justin Rose, who recorded a final round of one-over par.

The result sees Day move above Rory McIlroy into second in the world rankings after the Northern Irishman could only finish on six-under for the tournament.
