First European Tour title for England's Andrew Johnston

Andrew Johnston beats off Joost Luiten by one shot to win his maiden European Tour title in Spain.

Englishman Andrew Johnston clinched the first European Tour title of his career at the Open de Espana this afternoon.

Starting the day one shot behind overnight leader Michael Lorenzo-Vera, Johnston carded a one-under 70 to wrap up his victory.

On top of that, the 27-year-old is the first player to win a non-Major with an over-par score for 20 years.

"It's great, I'm pretty speechless and so happy with the way I played," he told Sky Sports News.

"I drove the ball well all week, chipped and putted pretty well but struggled a bit with my irons the first three days. I just kept going and digging in and found something on the fourth."

Holland's Joost Luiten took second place, while Sergio Garcia finished third.
