Rory McIlroy denies that there is a rift between himself and Graeme McDowell over reports that the former world number one is due to quit his current management.

Former world number one Rory McIlroy has rejected suggestions that he has fallen out with Graeme McDowell over changes in his management.

There have been reports that the 24-year-old is poised to leave Horizon Sports Management, which also represents McDowell, to set up his own management group.

Following the news, McDowell is said to have been left feeling disappointed in his Ryder Cup teammate, but McIlroy has insisted that there are no problems between the duo.

"There has been a lot of speculation but it's not something I can comment on," BBC Sport quotes McIlroy as saying. "Graeme and I are great friends. He's maybe said a few things I wasn't happy with but we had a chat and all is OK."

The Irishmen have been paired for the opening round of the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth today.
