Jordan Spieth has been named the PGA Tour Player of the Year after a hugely successful season.
The 22-year-old becomes the youngest player to win the award since Tiger Woods, who was 21 when he first won it in 1997.
Spieth claimed the first two Majors of the year at The Masters and US Open before agonisingly missing out on The Open title at St Andrew's.
"The PGA Tour enjoyed a sensational season from every perspective as our young stars shone brighter than ever before, but none brighter than the PGA Tour Player of the Year Jordan Spieth," said PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem.
"He captivated us throughout a memorable year that included the FedExCup and five victories, highlighted by two major championships. And the sportsmanship he displayed in both victory and defeat was a stirring indication of the role model and ambassador he has become in a very short period of time."
Jason Day then enjoyed plenty of success in the latter part of the season, claiming the US PGA Championship and two of the four FedEx Cup playoff events, but it was Spieth who had the last laugh at last week's Tour Championship to win the $10m (£6.5m) FedEx Cup bonus and move up to world number one.
Another American, Daniel Berger, was named the Tour's Rookie of the Year after finishing 11th in the FedEx Cup standings.
