Drivers spokesman Alex Wurz: 'No boycott arranged for Italian Grand Prix'

Formula 1 drivers spokesman Alex Wurz says that there will not be a boycott at the Italian Grand Prix.

Formula 1 drivers spokesman Alex Wurz has dismissed rumours that there will be a boycott at the Italian Grand Prix.

Rumours had surfaced that the drivers were planning the boycott due to concerns over tyre safety.

Sebastian Vettel had been critical of the Pirelli tyres at the Belgian Grand Prix nine days ago.

"We are far away from a boycott," Wurz told Motorsport.com.

"These things have happened to lots of manufacturers, not just Pirelli, because in F1 everything technically is always evolving and the forces can grow rapidly on tyres. There is a fine line between performance and safety, which we all accept.

"But then, every so often, we have to sit down and say 'Okay, where are we on this line? Are we below or above?' We have to have this constructive conversation going on."

The Italian Grand Prix will take place on Sunday afternoon.
