Nigel Pearson 'holds talks' with Wolverhampton Wanderers

Former Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson reportedly holds talks over the managerial vacancy at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Nigel Pearson has reportedly held talks with Wolverhampton Wanderers over their managerial vacancy.

The 53-year-old guided Leicester City to the Premier League with the Championship title in 2013-14, laying the foundations for their historic title under successor Claudio Ranieri last term.

Pearson went on to join Derby County this summer but left the role after just four months following an alleged altercation with owner Mel Morris.

According to the Express & Star, Pearson held talks with Wolves on Thursday over the possibility of taking the helm of the Chinese-owned side in the wake of Walter Zenga's dismissal earlier this week.

Former Nottingham Forest boss Dougie Freedman remains the surprise odds-on favourite for the job, with ex-England manager Sam Allardyce currently second favourite with the bookies.

Wolves are said to be keen to hire a British manager with proven Championship experience as they look for promotion back to the top flight at the earliest opportunity.
