Wolves receive Neves injury boost

Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Ruben Neves has reportedly avoided a lengthy spell on the sidelines after picking up an injury at the weekend.

On Saturday, the club-record signing was forced off during the early stages of the 2-0 defeat to Shrewsbury Town, and he left the League One outfit's ground wearing a protective boot on his ankle.

However, according to the Express & Star, the knock he received is not as bad as first feared and he could continue his pre-season with an outing against Leicester City on July 29.

Earlier this month, it was announced that Neves had completed a surprise move to the Championship outfit, who allegedly paid over £15m to take him to Molineux from Porto.

The 20-year-old has linked up with former boss Nuno Espirito Santo, who was quickly appointed as the new Wolves manager after leaving the Portuguese giants in May.
