Jamie Redknapp blasts "shambolic" West Ham United

West Ham United were "shambolic" in Sunday's 3-0 defeat to Southampton, claims former England midfielder Jamie Redknapp.

Former England midfielder Jamie Redknapp has branded West Ham United "shambolic" after the Hammers lost 3-0 at home to Southampton in the Premier League.

The defeat on Sunday afternoon has left the capital side in the relegation zone having won just one and lost five of their league matches at the start of the new campaign.

Redknapp has said that he 'could not believe how poor West Ham were' and has also claimed that the Hammers cannot use their change of stadium as an excuse for the bad start to the season.

"It was shambolic from West Ham. I can't believe how poor they were. There's a lack of confidence, but people aren't doing their jobs. The amount of chances Southampton had, it could have been 6-0," Redknapp told Sky Sports News.

"They weren't playing at the stadium when they conceded four goals to West Brom. You can blame the stadium but last year they had 13 points from these respective games and this year they have three. It's too easy an excuse, once you get out there you have to get on with it. It's been a really poor start and it's a real test for Slaven Bilic. They are missing a lot of spirit."

Only Stoke City (two) and Sunderland (one) have collected fewer Premier League points than West Ham this season.
