Sir Trevor Brooking delighted with Manuel Lanzini capture

West Ham legend Sir Trevor Brooking praises the decision to turn Manuel Lanzini's loan move into a permanent one.

West Ham United legend Sir Trevor Brooking has spoken of his delight at seeing the club wrap up a permanent deal for Manuel Lanzini.

The 23-year-old has been on loan at Upton Park from UAE side Al Jazira, but the Hammers have now spent around £9m to turn that move into a permanent one.

Lanzini has signed a four-year deal with West Ham, with the option of a further two years, joining Dimitri Payet and Cheikhou Kouyate in committing their long-term futures to the club.

"It's great. I was asking [co-chairmen David Gold and David Sullivan] if they had sorted Lanzini out just a couple of weeks ago. He was outstanding until he got injured earlier this season. Then he came back and he and Dimitri Payet together are great. It's good to sort him, Payet and Kouyate out for the next few years," Brooking is quoted as saying by PA.

"People can say what's to stop big clubs still coming in for them, but if I was a player on the platform that they are given at West Ham, a club where the fans enjoy watching you and now with the new stadium, it's a great opportunity for them and anyone else who comes in.

"With three or four new players, the right sort of people, I think they can be very dangerous next year."

Lanzini scored his sixth goal of the season during Saturday's 2-2 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
