Gareth Bale: Wales "cannot afford to slip-up" against Georgia

Wales forward Gareth Bale acknowledges the importance of beating Georgia at the Cardiff City Stadium to maintain his side's impressive run of form.

Gareth Bale has admitted that only three points will do in Sunday's World Cup qualifying meeting with Georgia, as Wales aim to maintain their positive run of form.

The Dragons made it all the way to the semi-final stage of Euro 2016 in the summer and have kicked off their latest campaign with a respectable four points from games against Moldova and Austria.

Next up for Wales is the visit of Georgia to the Cardiff City Stadium, which Real Madrid ace Bale acknowledges is a game that his side cannot afford to lose if they are to top Group D come 12 months from now.

"We cannot afford to slip up against anybody, no matter who it is," he told reporters. "We will be gunning for three points. It is that snowball effect, we want to keep the momentum going and use the last campaign as a stepping stone.

"Teams are paying us a lot more respect so it is difficult to get that space and create opportunities. That is the expectation we have set ourselves up for now. We have had a great couple of years.

"I think we are slowly learning how to do it. Moldova was a good step in the right direction. We were very patient before we got the goal whereas before we may have got really frustrated."

Wales will be without two key players on Sunday, as both Joe Allen and Aaron Ramsey are nursing injury problems.
