Gareth Bale plays down Eden Hazard clash

Wales winger Gareth Bale plays down the significance of potentially coming up against Eden Hazard when his side take on Belgium in the quarter-finals of Euro 2016.

Wales winger Gareth Bale has played down the prospect of coming up against Eden Hazard when his side take on Belgium in the quarter-finals of Euro 2016 on Friday.

Both players are widely regarded to be among the best at this summer's tournament, and they are likely to come face to face when their respective nations meet in the last eight in Lille.

However, Bale insists that the focus should be on the two teams rather than two individual players.

"A lot of people will speak about things like that, but I am sure he would think the same as me - this is about Wales versus Belgium, not me up against him," the Real Madrid man told reporters.

"There are 11 players on the field and it does not matter if he or I score, it is about which team wins. One player does not make a team, it will be 11 vs. 11 and we will be going out to win the game.

"I don't think everyone is looking to us, we just work hard for the team. If the team players well then the players are playing well. It is a tale of two teams who are very good teams, because you don't get to the quarter-finals by accident."

Hazard is expected to play on Friday despite missing training with a thigh injury this week.
