Bale: 'Wales are over England defeat'

Wales attacker Gareth Bale has said that he and his teammates are "very excited" about returning to action as they prepare to face Russia at Euro 2016.

On Thursday afternoon, Wales conceded a stoppage-time winner to England to lose top spot in Group B, but their fate remains in their own hands with a win over Russia on Monday night enough to guarantee a place in the last 16.

Bale has acknowledged that his team were disappointed to concede late on to England but he insists that they would have accepted their current position had it been offered to them before the tournament.

The 26-year-old is quoted by BBC Sport as saying: "Obviously after the game we were very disappointed, especially to lose in that manner. But we had a chat straight away. Now we have to forget about it. It's over.

"Our fate is in our own hands. If you'd given us this at the start of the tournament, we would have taken it. We have it all to play for and we're still very excited."

A draw against Russia may also be enough to secure either second place or one of the best third-position spots on offer.
