Luis Suarez vows to play more intelligently for Uruguay

Luis Suarez vows to play with "more intelligence" for Uruguay, having seen his nine-match international ban for biting Giorgio Chiellini come to an end.

Uruguay striker Luis Suarez has said that he will try to play more intelligently for his country following his return to the international stage.

The 29-year-old was handed a nine-match international ban for biting Italy's Giorgio Chiellini at the 2014 World Cup, in addition to a four-month ban from all football-related activity.

He has since been in scintillating form for Barcelona, helping the club to the treble in his debut season last term and scoring 43 goals in 43 appearances so far this campaign, and he is hoping to replicate that for Uruguay.

"I am going to have the same attitude, I will still run, still pressure, still argue because no-one is going to change the way I play," he told reporters.

"But with moderation, like I am doing now at Barcelona, being more intelligent about a lot of things, trying to take advantage of the situations life is putting in front of me.

"The only thing I want to do is play with the national side again and enjoy the warmth of the fans."

Suarez is expected to make his comeback in a World Cup qualifier against Brazil on Friday.
