Christian Eriksen had "no doubt" over signing new Tottenham Hotspur deal

Eriksen had "no doubt" over Spurs stay

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen has admitted that there was never any doubt about him staying with the club.

The 24-year-old put pen to paper on a new four-year deal with Mauricio Pochettino's side last month after a season in which Spurs qualified for the Champions League and mounted a serious title challenge.

"I wanted to extend [my contract] because I feel that we can take the next step, which is to be at the top," the Denmark international told Tipsbladet.

"In the past Tottenham have been a middle to top club, but with the players we have in the squad, our way of playing and a new stadium, then there is a possibility that we may be at the top.

"Now we play also in the Champions League, as we did in the past, and that is something I like. I personally had no doubt that I wanted to stay and be a part of the building."

Spurs are also tipped for a title challenge this season and currently sit unbeaten in second place in the Premier League, one point behind leaders Manchester City.
