Aurier vows to make "fresh start" at Spurs

New Tottenham Hotspur signing Serge Aurier has said that he is looking forward to making a "fresh start" after joining the club in a £23m deal from Paris Saint-Germain today.

The 24-year-old put pen to paper on a five-year contract with Spurs on deadline day after being granted a work permit despite a suspended two-month prison sentence hanging over his head.

Aurier's time at PSG was dogged by other disciplinary issues as well, but the Ivory Coast international has vowed to show Tottenham fans "the real Serge Aurier".

"This is a huge and exciting opportunity at a massive football club and I am determined to prove myself as a professional both on and off the pitch," he told the club's official website.

"This is a fresh start for me and I will do everything to make the Spurs fanbase, which is huge and diverse, proud of me.

"The fans are the most important people at any club and I am looking forward to showing them and everyone at Spurs the real Serge Aurier."

Aurier could make his Spurs debut against Everton at Goodison Park after the international break.
