Tottenham Hotspur gave their top-four hopes a big boost on Saturday with a thrilling 4-3 win at home to struggling Leicester City.

Harry Kane scored twice inside the opening 15 minutes for Spurs, but Jamie Vardy pulled one back for the visitors at the end of the first half.

Wes Morgan then drew Leicester level just 10 minutes after the restart before Harry Kane sealed his hat-trick from the penalty spot just after the hour to put Tottenham back in front.

The home side' victory was secured with five minutes left as Jeffrey Schlupp put through his own net, though a late strike from David Nugent set up a nervy finish.

Good afternoon and welcome to Sports Mole's live text coverage of today's Premier League encounter between Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City at White Hart Lane. Both sides are battling away for very different goals at the moment, which should provide a fascinating clash. Team news will be with you shortly.

SPURS: Lloris; Walker, Dier, Vertonghen, Rose; Bentaleb, Mason; Chadli, Eriksen, Townsend; Kane

SPURS SUBS: Vorm, Chiriches, Davies, Dembele, Lamela, Paulinho, Adebayor

Despite seeing his side lose 3-0 to Manchester United last week, Tottenham coach Mauricio Pochettino has named the same starting XI and bench for today's game. That lineup includes Harry Kane, who was called up to the England squad earlier this week. The striker had a quiet match at Old Trafford, but he will be looking to get amongst the goals today.

LEICESTER: Schmeichel; Morgan, Huth, Upson, De Laet; Cambiasso, James, Schlupp, Vardy; Ulloa, Nugent

LEICESTER SUBS: Schwarzer, Konchesky, Drinkwater, King, Mahrez, Wasilewski, Kramaric

Meanwhile, following their goalless draw at home to Hull City last week, Leicester boss Nigel Pearson has made three changes as Kasper Schmeichel, David Nugent and Leonardo Ulloa all return. Schmeichel makes his first appearances for the Foxes since December after recovering from a broken foot. Mark Schwarzer, Riyad Mahrez and Andrej Kramaric all make way.

Spurs will certainly be keen to get back to winning ways today after that defeat to Manchester United last time out. The North-London outfit currently sit four points adrift of fourth-placed United, though a win today would put pressure on Louis van Gaal's men ahead of their trip to Liverpool tomorrow. The race for the top four has already provided plenty of drama this season and it seems as if it's only going to get more tense as we approach the final few weeks of the campaign.

Spurs midfielder Nabil Bentaleb on last weekend's defeat to Manchester United: "We've played well recently and it's a shame - and we have to tell the truth - we just didn't turn up and the game was over before we started.

"I feel really bad about the game, especially for the fans and I can tell them that we will come back stronger and show a different face when we play Leicester at home. We have to stay strong now, take it as a lesson and work even harder in training to make sure it doesn't happen again."

Leicester head to White Hart Lane in desperate need of some points. The Foxes have failed to win any of their last seven games in the Premier League and must start getting some positive results if they want to stay in the top flight. Nigel Pearson's men are currently seven points adrift of safety. They will still be hoping to climb up the standings, but time is running out.

Leicester boss Nigel Pearson: "It's still a big task for us and with the points we have on the board and shift in form we have to achieve there won't be too many people who share my beliefs. The players remain very upbeat and 10 games left is still a sizeable chunk and we have to make sure it's a successful 10 games.

"We have to make sure we remain in touch and that our destiny stays in our own hands. That's what we have to try to do. We have 10 games left, six of them at home. Our home form has not been what we would have liked but if we get into the latter stages in touch, with four or five games at home, it's something we can be relatively positive about."

HEAD TO HEAD: Spurs have the better record when it comes to past meetings between these sides, winning 43 times compared to 32 victories for Leicester. There have also been 17 draws since they first faced each other.

These two teams have already played each other twice this season; once in the FA Cup and once in the Premier League. Leicester earned a dramatic 2-1 win over Spurs at White Hart Lane in the fourth round of the FA Cup back in January as a late blunder from goalkeeper Michel Vorm gave the Foxes and improbable triumph. Meanwhile, Spurs came out 2-1 winners in the Premier League on Boxing Day at the King Power Stadium.

UPDATE! Today's early kickoff in the Premier League has just finished at the Etihad Stadium, where Manchester City have kept pressure on leaders Chelsea thanks to a 3-0 win over West Bromwich Albion. Wilfried Bony, Fernando and David Silva with the goals for the defending champions.

This fixture has produced quite a few goals down the years, including a whopping 19 in the last four matches. You would expect a few dodgy moments in defence this afternoon as well because Spurs and Leicester are among the biggest culprits for leaking goals in the Premier League. Spurs currently sit 15th in the defensive standings, while the Foxes are 17th.

It's a bit of a different story when it comes to finding the net though. Leicester, who are currently managing just 0.86 goals per game, have Leo Ulloa as their top scorer in the league with eight goals. Meanwhile, Tottenham can boast 16-goal Harry Kane as their leading scorer. Today's hosts also average a healthy 1.59 goals per game, making them the fifth highest scorers in the top flight.

Not long to go until kickoff now as the players start to emerge in the tunnel at White Hart Lane. Leicester would probably be happy to leave the capital with a share of the spoils today, but Tottenham know that they have to win if they want to boost their chances of a top-four finish.

KICKOFF! The teams are out, the pre-match handshakes have been done and it will be hosts Tottenham to get us underway. Here we go!

SPURS SUB: Bad news early on for Spurs as Lloris stays down following a collision with Walker. The Tottenham goalkeeper came out to collect the ball as Vardy ran into the penalty are and ended up crashing into his own teammate. The Frenchman isn't going to be able to continue. He's stretchered off and replaced by Michel Vorm.

GOAL! SPURS 1-0 LEICESTER (KANE)

They may have lost their goalkeeper early on, but Spurs take the lead thanks to man of the moment Harry Kane! Leicester fail to deal with a corner as Dier's flick-on is pushed away by Schmeichel, only for Kane to be in the right place at the right time to tap home. A poacher's goal.

It's been a strange start to the game because Leicester have actually shown plenty of attacking intent, but it's Tottenham who are now ahead and have the wind in their sails. The visitors win themselves a corner out on the left, but it's headed clear by Rose.

CHANCE! What a goal that would have been for Leicester! Nugent tries his luck with a powerful half-volley from all of 40 yards, but Vorm is there to just about push it away. Nugent used the element of surprise there because that came out of absolutely nothing.

GOAL! SPURS 2-0 LEICESTER (KANE)

Kane strikes again to make it 2-0 to Spurs, though there's some doubt as to whether that will go down as his goal. Walker's cross from the right isn't cleared by the Leicester defence, and there's Kane to find the net with an effort that takes a huge deflection off Huth. However, that could well have been going wide.

Leicester really don't deserve to be two goals down this early. They've actually played some bright football so far, but some disappointing defending has cost them dearly.

CLOSE! The visitors come within inches of pulling one back as Nugent is sent clear of the Spurs defence before shooting narrowly wide across the face of the goal. The striker was forced wide with that one, though you would have expected him to have at least hit the target. Still, that's a warning for Tottenham.

OFF THE POST! Spurs are looking rampant on the attack and they so very nearly make it 3-0 through Eriksen. The Dan runs across the 18-yard line from left to right before striking the woodwork with a low drive. Townsend then sticks the rebound over the crossbar.

This game is so open at the moment. There are huge gaps appearing all over the pitch as both sides continue to go on the offensive. Leicester are clearly looking to reduce the deficit as soon as the possibly can, though that is also giving the hosts a chance to extend their advantage.

Another injury concern for Tottenham now as Dier stays down following an aerial collision. The defender is sat up and being seen to by the medics, but it's unclear whether he'll be okay to continue.

Dier is up and looks fine to carry on, which is good news. It was a nasty blow that he received to the head.

YELLOW CARD! An embarrassing moment for Chadli as he is booked for diving. The Spurs midfielder went down softly under a challenge in the box, but referee Mike Dean was having none of it. It was a good decision too because the Belgian threw himself to the ground in dramatic fashion.

Spurs are trying to take a bit of the sting out of this match. They're passing the ball about very patiently, making Leicester do all of the running. The visitors are showing no signs of slowing down, but they're not seeing a great deal of the ball right now.

GOAL! SPURS 2-1 LEICESTER (VARDY)

Game on! It's a lovely goal from Jamie Vardy as Leicester give themselves some hope. Nugent is set free down the right before whipping a dangerous cross in towards Vardy, who gets in front of his man to slot past Vorm. Really clinical football from the away side.

That goal from Vardy has changed the who atmosphere inside White Hart Lane. The home fans are suddenly feeling a bit nervy despite their side being 2-1 ahead. Leicester go on the attack once more as Ulloa tries to pick out Vardy at the back post with a good cross, only for Walker to get there first and clear.

That's really disappointing from Eriksen. The Dane gets the ball just outside the box before trying to thread the ball through to Kane, but his pass is far to weak and Leicester clear. A bit more composure there and the hosts could have been able to restore their two-goal lead.

We'll have FIVE MINUTES of added time to accommodate that stoppage at the start of the match for Lloris.

CHANCE! Leicester threaten again from out wide as a cross from the right lands on the head of Ulloa, who somehow nods over the crossbar from about eight yards out. The Foxes have looked very good going forward this afternoon.

HALF TIME: SPURS 2-1 LEICESTER

Well, that was quite a first half. We've seen plenty of action so far at White Hart Lane, but it's Spurs who lead 2-1 thanks to those two goals from Harry Kane.

The home side saw their afternoon get off to a bad start as Hugo Lloris was stretchered off after colliding with Kyle Walker. However, their frowns were soon turned upside down as Kane netted twice in quick succession. It looked as if the hosts were on their way to hammering Leicester at this point, but the Foxes did a good job in fighting back and were rewarded for their efforts when Jamie Vardy halved the deficit.

That goal from Vardy has totally changed the complexion of this game going into the second half. Spurs will be wary to push too far forward because Leicester have been very impressive on the counter-attack, but another goal for the hosts could well wrap up the points for Mauricio Pochettino's men.

You certainly wouldn't put it past Harry Kane to find the net again during the second half. The striker has looked clinical in front of goal so far. His movement has been very good, while he has proved with his finishing that his touch remains sharp.

SECOND HALF UNDERWAY! The players are out for the second half and it will be Leicester to kick us off. The visitors have made one change during the interval, with Marcin Wasilewski replacing Matthew Upson.

GOAL! SPURS 2-2 LEICESTER (MORGAN)

They've done it! Leicester have clawed it back thanks to captain Wes Morgan! A corner that was won following good work from Ulloa is whipped into a dangerous area, allowing Morgan direct a low header into the back of the net. The visitors certainly deserve it. They've been excellent since going 0-2 down.

Spurs are having to show plenty of organisation and discipline at the back right now as the visitors take the game to them. The home fans are moaning and groaning at every misplaced pass from their side, while Leicester are looking the more likely to score. What a turnaround at White Hart Lane.

Tottenham are trying to make something happen in the final third, but they're coming up against a solid-looking Leicester back line. The hosts are lacking a bit of imagination. They've not got that spark in attack that they enjoyed during the first half.

SPURS SUB: The home side make their second change of the afternoon as Andros Townsend is replaced by Paulinho, who will be expected to give the Spurs midfield a bit more mettle.

It's all very even with 30 minutes left to play at White Hart Lane. Leicester win a corner out on the right as Rose deals brilliantly with Huth before the German heads the resulting set piece wide. The centre-back looks disappointed that he didn't get that one on target.

PENALTY TO SPURS!

GOAL! SPURS 3-2 LEICESTER (KANE, PENALTY)

Harry Kane's week just gets better as he nets his hat-trick from the spot to put Spurs back in front. The penalty came about when Nugent failed to clear before bringing down Rose. It was a slightly contentious decision from Mike Dean, though there was contact between the pair. Kane stepped up to send Schmeichel the wrong way.

The ebb and flow of this game has been incredible today. Spurs now look the more in control following Leicester's resurgence at the start of the second half. Chadli and Kane link well as the former floats a cross in towards the latter, but he can only volley over the crossbar while on the stretch.

MISS! Oh my word, how has Chadli missed that? Dier goes on a surging run upfield, picking the ball up on the right before whipping in a superb cross to the back post. Chadli is there for what looks like a simple tap in, but the Belgian somehow blazes over the crossbar from about four yards. Remarkable.

White Hart Lane holds its collective breath as Kane stays down under a challenge on the left flank. However, the striker looks as if he's going to be okay.

LEICESTER SUB: The Foxes make an attacking change as Riyad Mahrez replaces Huth. Mahrez has put in some very good performances for Leicester this season and manager Nigel Pearson will be hoping that the Algerian can work his magic during the final 15 minutes of this match.

YELLOW CARD! Tottenham left-back Rose gets his name in the book for a foul on James. The resulting free kick is met by Wasilewski, but the defender gets his header all wrong and Spurs survive. It's going to be a nervy finale at White Hart Lane, that's for sure.

It's fairly end to end now, with both sides doing their share of attacking. Spurs will be eager to keep the ball in Leicester's half, while the visitors are keen to push forward whenever they can. They will feel hard done by if they end up losing this one because they've been impressive this afternoon. They've certainly not looked like a team battling away at the wrong end of the table.

Spurs get a sniff at goal as the ball is threaded through to Kane, only for Schmeichel to race off his line to collect. The goalkeeper had to be very alert there. Kane was about to pull the trigger in search of his fourth goal of the game.

GOAL! SPURS 4-2 LEICESTER (SCHLUPP, OWN GOAL)

And that should be that. Spurs go 4-2 in front, but there's a huge slice of luck behind this goal. The hosts break quickly, with Eriksen sent clear through. The Dane's initial shot is saved by Schmeichel before the ball bounces back, hits Schlupp and goes in. It's cruel on the away side.

LEICESTER SUB: The visitors' final swap sees Andy King come on for Cambiasso.

GOAL! SPURS 4-3 LEICESTER (NUGENT)

Hang on a minute! This one isn't over yet as Nugent pulls a goal back with a wonderful strike. The forward meets a flick-on about 20 yards from goal before muscling off a Spurs defender and smashing low into the bottom corner.

There will be at least THREE MINUTES of added time...

FULL TIME: SPURS 4-3 LEICESTER

And breathe. Spurs just about hang on in the end to give their top-four hopes a big boost. Meanwhile, bottom-placed Leicester extend their winless run to eight matches in the Premier League. Harry Kane was the star of the show again for the hosts, netting a hat-trick to take his tally to 19 goals for the season in the top flight.
