Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld fit for Liverpool clash

Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld will be fit to face Liverpool this weekend after overcoming a stomach bug, according to Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has said that key centre-back Toby Alderweireld will be fit to face Liverpool in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Belgian international missed his country's 2-1 defeat to Portugal on Tuesday night with a stomach problem and had been seen as a doubt to represent his club at the weekend.

Pochettino, however, speaking at his pre-match press conference, has revealed that the former Atletico Madrid defender is "okay" after training for the last three days.

"Alderweireld was ill but he's okay. He trained with us Tuesday, Wednesday and today (Thursday). He's fully fit, no issues for Saturday," Pochettino told reporters.

Spurs currently sit five points behind league leaders Leicester City in the Premier League table.
