Manchester City chief executive Ferran Soriano is reportedly "deadly serious" about signing Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo this summer.

Manchester City are reportedly "deadly serious" about signing Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo this summer.

The 28-year-old has two years remaining on his current contract at the Bernabeu, but he has been heavily linked with a sensational return to former club Manchester United in recent weeks.

Madrid remain adamant that Ronaldo is going nowhere, but both City and United are said to be willing to test their resolve.

According to the Daily Star, City will match any transfer bid made by United and they are prepared to better any offer of personal terms, which could see them agree to wage demands of more than £300,000 per week.

The newspaper also claims that City chief executive Ferran Soriano has told Ronaldo's representatives that he is deadly serious about bringing the player to the Etihad Stadium.

Ronaldo scored 84 goals in 196 Premier League appearances for United between 2003 and 2009.
