Real Madrid confirm Karim Benzema injury

Karim Benzema will miss Real Madrid's final game of the season against Getafe after injuring his thigh muscle.

Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that Karim Benzema will miss the final game of the La Liga season after injuring his thigh muscle.

The French striker only returned from an ankle injury a week ago, but Ancelotti revealed to reporters that he had suffered a "tear in his right rectus femoris muscle" and would be unavailable for Saturday's meeting with Getafe.

Javier Hernandez or Jese is likely to be handed a start in his absence as Real look to finish the campaign with a victory after being forced to settle for second spot behind Barcelona.

Reports have suggested that the game will be Ancelotti's final one in charge of Real, who are believed to be close to appointing Rafael Benitez as his successor.
