Roma defender Alessandro Florenzi has claimed that his side 'did not deserve to lose' Wednesday's Champions League last-16 first leg against Real Madrid.
A very even first period saw both sides fail to register a shot on target, but second-half goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and Jese Rodriguez yielded a 2-0 win for Real Madrid.
Florenzi has claimed that the Italian outfit 'played one of their best matches of the season' and the right-back also bemoaned Ronaldo's goal, which took a deflection off his boot before finding the back of the net.
"We played one of our best matches this season, against one of the top teams that will compete to win the competition. Sometimes you also need a bit of luck, because we actually played well and this result is not fair," Florenzi told UEFA.com.
"Our fans applauded us. I have been a little unlucky with Ronaldo's shot, I managed to deflect the ball but it ended exactly where Wojciech [Szczesny] couldn't get to."
Roma had entered the match in Rome on the back of a four-game winning run in Serie A.
