Southampton join Adrian Mariappa chase

Southampton have reportedly joined the race to sign Watford defender Adrian Mariappa.

Reading, who are also interested in the 25-year-old Jamaica international, have already had a £2m bid for the player rejected.

Watford are said to be holding out for a fee in the region of £2.75m and the Saints are willing to match that valuation, according to The Sun.

Mariappa made 42 appearances for the Hornets last season.
