Thiago Silva would welcome Mbappe to PSG

Paris Saint-Germain captain Thiago Silva has said that AS Monaco forward Kylian Mbappe "could become a very important and very significant player" for the capital club.

Mbappe, 18, scored 26 times in all competitions for Monaco last season, helping the principality outfit land the Ligue 1 title, in addition to reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Arsenal, Barcelona and Real Madrid have all been linked with the teenager, but it is understood that PSG are closing in on a world-record move for the France international.

"He always wants to score, he has a great quality of dribble, and I think PSG is a team that loves that kind of player," Silva told Canal+. "He could become a very important and very significant player for the squad. I see on TV that he has his head on his shoulders."

Mbappe was an unused substitute in Monaco's 4-1 win over Dijon at the weekend, with head coach Leonardo Jardim claiming that benching the teenager was "a club decision".
