Newcastle United boss John Carver eyeing winning run

Carver eyeing winning run

Newcastle United boss John Carver is hopeful that his side can use their next run of three games to launch themselves into the top half of the Premier League.

Carver was announced as the club's manager until the summer this week, despite the Magpies' failure to record a victory under his tenure in their previous four matches in all competitions.

However, the 50-year-old feels that a victory over Hull City at the KC Stadium can kickstart the second half of their campaign.

Carver told the club's official website: "Why can't we go on a run? Why can't we go and win games? I've seen enough in the last three league games to suggest we can go on a run.

"We've got a group of three games now which are very, very important. The most important thing is getting that first one and it has to come soon.

"I want the same performance [as last season at Hull] because it was definitely one of our best performances away from home. That was really encouraging, so a similar performance and a similar result would put a smile back on my face again."

Newcastle are 11th in the Premier League going into their match against the Tigers.
