Sneijder ruled out for Netherlands

Netherlands boss Danny Blind has ruled Wesley Sneijder out of Monday's 2018 World Cup qualification match against France.

The Galatasaray midfielder was forced off during Friday's 4-1 win over Belarus with a hamstring problem, but remained with the squad ahead of the clash with France on Monday night.

Blind, however, has confirmed that Sneijder will not be available for the fixture in Amsterdam.

"He will remain with us until Monday morning. I have asked him [to stay] – he can encourage us. But on matchday he is no longer necessary. He will leave after breakfast," Blind told reporters.

Netherlands, who failed to qualify for Euro 2016, currently top Group A having collected four points from their two World Cup qualification matches thus far.
