Sampdoria fight back for Napoli draw

Eder scores twice in a minute as Sampdoria come from two goals down to share a 2-2 draw with Napoli in Serie A.

Sampdoria came from two goals down to share a 2-2 draw with Napoli after Eder scored a quickfire brace in the second half of their Serie A tie this evening.

Napoli broke the deadlock less than 10 minutes into the tie when Lorenzo Insigne crossed the ball in from the left, setting up Gonzalo Higuain to power home from close range.

Insigne had a couple of chances to double the advantage for the home side, but he curled the ball wide from the edge of the penalty area, before watching a lofted pass go out for a goal kick.

Sampdoria had a chance to level the scores shortly before half time, with Eder breaking from midfield before blasting the ball towards the Napoli goal, but his finish lacked accuracy.

The miss proved costly as the hosts immediately broke down the other end, allowing Allan to slide a through-ball between the centre-backs to give Higuain his second of the evening, leaving the Argentine international with a simple tap-in.

Napoli gifted the visitors a path back into the match in the second half when Raul Albiol brought Eder down in the box, allowing the striker to cut the deficit in half from the penalty spot.

The forward had the ball in the back of the net again just a minute later after controlling a long ball forward, blasting a shot beneath Pepe Reina to level the scores just before the hour mark.

Luis Muriel could have given Sampdoria the lead a couple of minutes later as he drove the ball at the Napoli goal from distance, but Reina was able to get across and keep it out.

Sampdoria continued to look the more likely as the match headed into the final 10 minutes, but Muriel was unable to slot in a late winner, as Reina denied the striker again, stretching to tip the ball over the crossbar.

The result leaves Napoli without a win in the league so far this season, while Sampdoria sit sixth in the table with four points from a possible six.
