Live Commentary: Monts D'or Azergues 1-3 AS Monaco - as it happened

AS Monaco travelled to French minnows Monts D'or Azergues in the Coupe de France on Wednesday.

The two sides met in the last 32 of the competition, with former Monaco captain Ludovic Giuly's fourth-tier strugglers hosting the Ligue 1 giants.

It was a comfortable win for Monaco, who advance through to the quarter-finals.

39 minNow then, this is interesting. Monaco hit Azergues on the break, and Falcao makes his way into the box. Ertek goes diving in from behind in a last-ditch attempt to get the ball. Falcao goes down but the referee gives nothing. Falcao is still down in agony now, and replays show that Ertek got none of the ball and all of the striker. Should be a Monaco penalty.

37 minThe crowd is starting to come alive a bit more after a few tackles fly in. Monaco haven't managed to test the Azergues goal again since their opener.

35 minAlioui has to be careful. He has made so many fouls so far and has yet to be booked. He can't far away from picking up a yellow after upending Ferreira-Carrasco.

33 minMoutinho floats a cross from the right touchline deep into the far post where Falcao is lurking. It should be an easy catch for Jaccard, but Falcao gives him a few worries by putting him under pressure. Jaccard just about scrambles a hold of the ball.

31 minSo Monaco can finally go ahead. How will Azergues respond? Will they be more determined to fire themselves back into the game, or will Monaco run away with it now? Time will tell.

29 minMonaco take the lead and Falcao won't score many easier goals than this in his life. Moutinho floats a free kick in from the right, which Germain rises at the back post to nod back across the face of goal. There lies Falcao, unmarked, who simply has to tap the ball into an empty net. First blood to the big boys.

24 minEncouraging signs for Azergues over the past few minutes. They've started seeing more of the ball and putting some good moves together. Giuly is at the hub of it, and the noise rises every time he gets in possession.

21 minJaccard is just a little bit too confident as he tries to shield the ball out of play for a goal kick. Ocampos nearly manages to snatch the ball off of the keeper at the byline, but cannot quite get enough of a touch on it.

18 minWe've just had a bit of a delay here following an injury to Moukaddam. He slid into a challenge and stretched his legs just a bit too far.

Monaco have the ball in the box, passing it around to try to create a shooting opportunity, before laying it back to Toulalan outside the box. The midfielder puts his foot through is, but snatches the shot high over the bar and into the crowd.

11 minCHANCE! Now that was an opportunity for Monaco, and they should have done better. Falcao is given loads of room down the left before putting in a cross towards Germain. The latter makes a bursting run towards the front post and gets his head to the ball, but his effort flies across the face of goal and wide for a goal kick.

7 minMoutinho chips a lovely ball over the Azergues backline and into the box, which Fabinho runs onto. However, Soudain manages to get in front of Fabinho goalside, and wins a free kick after forcing a foul from the Brazilian.

5 minGiuly floats the ball in towards the back post, and Bah rises highest to head it for Azergues. However, there isn't much power in the effort, and Romero can calmly collect.

3.43pmOn the other side of the tie, Monaco are flying. They sit second in Ligue 1, having finished as champions in Ligue 2 last term, and are only five points off league leaders PSG. Claudio Ranieri is likely to make a few changes today, and could hand a debut to new signing Elderson Echiejile at left-back. Meanwhile, Sergio Romero should play in goal and Nicolas Isimat-Mirin may replace the suspended captain Eric Abidal in centre of defence. Radamel Falcao is set to lead the line, amid his recent goal drought.

3.41pmAzergues, who were only founded 14 years ago, also have a famous coach in the form of Stephane Santini; a former player with Saint-Etienne and Sochaux among others and the son of former France manager Jacques.

3.40pmAzergues will also look to capitalise on the increased interest in the match due to a switch of locations. Their usual home, funnily enough named the Stade Ludovic Giuly, only holds a capacity of 5,000 fans. So with that in mind, today's clash is being played at the Stade de Gerland down the road in Lyon. This should only make the game even more special for Giuly, who made 92 top-flight appearances for Lyon at the start of his glittering career. Talk about mixed emotions eh.

He then returned for a season in Ligue 2 in 2011-12. He is a bona fide Monaco great and will no doubt relish facing his old employers today.
