Experienced defender Thomas Meunier hints that he could leave Paris Saint-Germain during the January transfer window.

Paris Saint-Germain defender Thomas Meunier has admitted that he could leave the club in the January transfer window due to the uncertainty surrounding his future.

The Belgium international will see his current deal with PSG expire at the end of the 2019-20 campaign.

Meunier has said that he would be keen to sign a new contract with Thomas Tuchel's side, although the right-back has refused to rule out a January exit after being heavily linked with a summer departure.

Manchester United were credited with an interest in the 27-year-old, who has made three appearances for PSG during the 2019-20 campaign.

"It was an intense period, with a lot of interest and discussion. I could have left but it was not done because there was nothing that suited the club or myself. Nothing was 100% for it to work," Meunier told RTBF.

"I have always said that I wanted to stay in Paris. I still have one year on my contract and I still hope an extension can be secured.

"The situation is a little more complicated because I am no longer the preferred choice in my position, but I remain professional. I feel good there and we will see what happens during the season."

Meunier has made over 100 appearances for PSG since arriving from Club Brugge in 2016.
