Chelsea pull out of John Stones race?

Chelsea reportedly decide against signing John Stones in the summer, leaving the two Manchester clubs to battle for the Everton defender's signature.

Chelsea have reportedly ended their pursuit of John Stones.

The Blues had at least three offers rejected for the Everton centre-back 12 months ago and they had been expected to renew their interest this summer.

However, with the asking price for the England international thought to be between £40m and £50m, Chelsea have decided to focus their attention on other defensive targets, according to The Express.

The report adds that Chelsea's withdrawal is likely to have opened the door for rivals Manchester United and Manchester City to make a move for the 21-year-old's signature.

Barcelona have also been linked with Stones, who joined Everton from Barnsley for £3m in January 2013.
