Manchester United youth players Tom Thorpe and Tyler Blackett have joined Birmingham City on loan for the remainder of the season.

21-year-old centre-back Thorpe has previously captained the Under-21s, and was on the three-man shortlist for the Player of the Year prize at reserves level last term.

Meanwhile, Blackett, a 19-year-old left-back, has already had a loan spell in the Championship this season, with Blackpool.

The duo are expected to make their debut with Lee Clark's team in Saturday's Championship clash against Derby County, the club where their Academy colleague Michael Keane was on loan recently.
