Chelsea captain John Terry is once again on the bench while Wayne Rooney drops out of the Manchester United matchday squad for their Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea captain John Terry has been named on the substitutes' bench as the Blues host Manchester United in Sunday's Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge.

The 35-year-old is back from an ankle injury but is not risked from the off as Antonio Conte retains the same starting XI that thrashed Leicester City 3-0 last weekend.

Jose Mourinho, meanwhile, makes six changes from the side that won 4-1 against Fenerbahce in Thursday's Europa League tie at Old Trafford.

The biggest omission is that of Red Devils skipper Wayne Rooney, who has sustained an injury and fails to make the matchday squad, alongside defender Luke Shaw.

Ander Herrera, Marouane Fellaini, Antonio Valencia, Daley Blind, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marcus Rashford are the names drafted into the ex-Chelsea manager's starting XI who did not begin Thursday's match.

Chelsea: Courtois, Azpilicueta, Luiz, Cahill, Moses, Kante, Matic, Alonso, Pedro, Costa, Hazard
Subs: Begovic, Aina, Terry, Chalobah, Oscar, Willian, Batshuayi

Manchester United: De Gea, Valencia, Smalling, Bailly, Blind, Fellaini, Herrera, Rashford, Pogba, Lingard, Ibrahimovic
Subs: Romero, Darmian, Rojo, Carrick, Mata, Young, Martial
