Report: Manchester United want Ryan Giggs to stay at Old Trafford

Manchester United reportedly offer Ryan Giggs a role at the club as they are keen to keep him following the sacking of Louis van Gaal.

Manchester United have reportedly offered Ryan Giggs a role at Old Trafford as they prepare to welcome Jose Mourinho as their new manager.

The Welshman has been Louis van Gaal's assistant coach over the past two seasons and was also David Moyes's number two during the Scotsman's 10-month stint following Sir Alex Ferguson's departure.

It is believed that Giggs joined Van Gaal's backroom staff with the hope of eventually becoming manager of the club that he has been associated with for almost 30 years.

However, it has been widely reported that former Chelsea boss Mourinho will soon finalise details on a three-year deal to become Van Gaal's successor.

The Dutchman was reportedly sacked by the Red Devils this morning following a two-year spell.

It has been reported that Giggs would be keen to work with Mourinho, and now the Manchester Evening News have claimed that United are hoping to keep the 42-year-old at the club in some capacity.

Giggs, who won 34 trophies during his playing career at United, is believed to be considering the club's offer.
