Rashford: 'Lukaku has joined at right time'

Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford aims to learn from Romelu Lukaku when linking up with his new teammate, much in the same way as he did from Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Marcus Rashford has admitted that he is hopeful of forming a lethal partnership with Romelu Lukaku following the prolific striker's arrival at Manchester United.

Lukaku was brought on board from Everton earlier this month in a £75m deal, seeing him fill the void left by released forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Rashford believes that Lukaku is joining United at the perfect time in his career, having bagged a further 25 goals in the Premier League last term, and is keen to learn from his new teammate in the same way that he did from Ibrahimovic.

"There was a lot to learn from [Ibrahimovic], not only from the football side of things but just his mentality, the way he trains, the way he prepares for the games. They are the main things that I took," he told reporters.

"It is difficult because we have got different playing styles so to take a lot from his actual game is difficult, so I had to look outside of just football itself and try to take things from his personality and what makes him great.

"[Lukaku]'s gone through a phase in his career now and he's coming up to his prime years and he has been scoring a lot of goals for the last three or four years. I think he is in a good place in his career and he has probably come here at the right time.

"I think what I can learn from him and what we can learn from each other is when we play together it is getting the relationship off the pitch and bringing it on to the pitch. We are still getting to know each other off the pitch and that's what a team is, we have to get to know each other on and off the pitch."

Rashford scored 11 goals in all competitions last season when largely fielded in wide positions.
