Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho hails his team following their 2-1 win over Crystal Palace on Wednesday night.

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has lavished praise on his team following Wednesday night's 2-1 win over Crystal Palace in the Premier League.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic netted the winner two minutes from time as the Red Devils made it back-to-back Premier League victories and ensured that they remained in touch with the top four in the league table.

Mourinho has insisted that Man United "were the best team" at Selhurst Park and deserved to find a second goal after James McArthur had cancelled out Paul Pogba's opening goal.

"We deserved it. We were the best team. They had a little reaction, but we had the best period in the game. In the last 20 minutes we were super dominant, we created a lot. We deserved it," Mourinho told BT Sport.

"We are doing enough for [closing the gap]. If we had the points we lost at home which we should have won, we would be close to the top of the league. In this moment, we are just closing the gap to the top four positions."

Man United will look to record their third successive league win when they travel to in-form West Bromwich Albion at the weekend.
