Manchester United attacker Henrikh Mkhitaryan says that his difficulties during his first season in English football will stand him in good stead next term.

Manchester United attacker Henrikh Mkhitaryan has insisted that his difficulties during his first season in English football will stand him in good stead entering the new campaign.

The Armenian international joined United in last summer's transfer window off the back of 23-goal season with Borussia Dortmund.

The 28-year-old had to wait until September to make his full debut after struggling to come to terms with Premier League football, and despite ending the season with 11 goals, the attacker was criticised for some underwhelming performances.

Mkhitaryan, however, has claimed that he "will be a better player for this experience", with the former Shakhtar Donetsk attacker vowing to prove his worth at Man United during the 2017-18 campaign.

"For sure I will be a better player for this experience. Some people say, 'You have been another player in Dortmund', but I'm saying I never regret coming here. I am very happy," Mkhitaryan told The Guardian.

"Last year, with my difficulties, they helped me a lot. I could stay more strong in my mind, like mentally. I never said that I had hard times here. It shows that you are strong enough to win them over or not. I think I have done everything to work hard, to show everyone I can play and that I can do my best for the team.

"In these kind of moments, if you are giving up you are going to lose the meaning of the life. I mean you have to stay positive, you have to stay strong and work very hard because in one click everything can change and that's what happened."

Mkhitaryan is currently with the Man United squad on their pre-season tour of the United States.
