Paddy McNair has "no regrets" over Sunderland move

Paddy McNair reveals that he has "no regrets" over his summer switch from Manchester United to Sunderland.

Sunderland midfielder Paddy McNair has insisted that he has "no regrets" over moving to the North-East from Manchester United this summer.

United manager Jose Mourinho had told the 21-year-old that he could go out on loan this season but McNair instead pushed for a permanent move and got his wish when Black Cats boss David Moyes signed him in August.

Sunderland have since endured an atrocious start to the new season and sit rock bottom of the Premier League table with just two points to show from their opening seven games.

"I never wanted to go on loan. I was adamant I wanted to go on a permanent move," McNair told The Chronicle. "I spoke to Mourinho for a couple of weeks and basically persuaded him to let me go on a permanent deal.

"I see too many players go out on loan that don't play. You're never their player - it's a loan.

"I just wanted to go to Sunderland and play in the Premier League every week and that was my thinking behind it. I've no regrets."

McNair has featured five times in the league for Sunderland so far this season.
