Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher has reportedly retired from football due to health reasons.

The 28-year-old has not featured for the club since November after it was revealed that he had been suffering from ulcerative colitis, a chronic inflammatory bowel condition.

He subsequently took over as a coach at the club, with the intention of returning to action at the beginning of next season.

No official confirmation has been made regarding the Scottish international's future, but rumours have been circling on Twitter since United's 1-0 defeat to Manchester City on Monday evening.

Fletcher has appeared 302 times for the club.
