Sven-Goran Eriksson: 'Marcus Rashford deserves England chance'

Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford should be given the chance to impress for England ahead of Euro 2016, according to former Three Lions boss Sven-Goran Eriksson.

Former England boss Sven-Goran Eriksson has called on current Three Lions head coach Roy Hodgson to give Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford the chance to impress before Euro 2016.

Rashford, 18, has burst onto the scene in 2016, hitting five goals in eight appearances for the Red Devils, including the winner against Manchester City last weekend.

Eriksson famously took Theo Walcott to the 2006 World Cup as an untried 17-year-old, and the Shanghai SIPG manager has claimed that Rashford should be given a try-out in a friendly match.

"Well if Roy wants to take a risk he should play him in the friendlies now to take a look at him. To see if he's ready, if he's good enough and so on," The Sun have quoted Eriksson as saying.

"Because I took a risk when I took Walcott. Because he hadn't played in any friendly games for us. So that was a risk. So it's better to let him play in some of the friendlies to see if he is ready or not."

England are currently preparing for Sunday's international friendly against Germany.
